Milk with protein powder + glutamine. Emergen-c 3x + 4 BCAAs.

Biked PE1 workout, one leg spinning drills at high RPMs low watts. At first legs were tight but loosened up more later in workout. HR rose a bit high but not extraordinarily high. Tightness in legs still present.

MVP sessions definitely loosened up legs, but still feel tight when I flex muscles slightly.

Retained warm feeling in hands and fingers after last night's session.

Think during training I may have a perpetual tight feeling in muscles.

Target recovery time from ironman is 1.5 weeks or less. Think this one will stretch to 1.5.

Just Emergen-C, milk + protein powder, Glutamine powder, 4 BCAAs 3 times a day.

6/23-6/24/09 Post-Ironman CDA

user-pic

I came back from Ironman CDA which was Sunday June 21 yesterday Tuesday 6/23/09 so I was without MVP for about 2 days after the race.

Right after the race, I sat in a bathtub full of ice for 10 minutes, and then I drank 2 of (2 Recoverite packets + 1 whey protein packet + Emergen-C), 4 BCAAs, 2 Glutamine pills. I ate a pasta, egg, and sausage meal and went to sleep!

Monday I was pretty stiff, although I think I was stiffer in years past which is good in showing my added recovery rate. Going up and down stairs was still painful. I drank lots of protein powder, BCAAs, Glutamine tablets, and Emergen-C.

No pain in my legs, although my right knee was acting up and still was a bit complaining upon walking.

I also did a home session of Graston to work through some of my knots, and the fascia around my knees.

Tuesday I was much better. I could walk up and down stairs although still stiff. Tuesday night I got back to my place and did a 1:00 MVP session. Drank a serving of Ultragen+2 scoops Glutamine powder + protein powder.

Wednesday 6/24/09 I got up and did another 1:00 MVP session. They are noticeably looser today although I have not tried to go up and down stairs yet this morning. Still a bit of tightness I feel in the legs when I contract muscles but they are definitely looser when I walk. Lots of TP Massage roller, foam roller, and lacrosse ball later.

Drank a glass of milk with protein powder + glutamine powder, 4 BCAAs, Emergen-C.

Both 1:00 MVP sessions did not result in numb feet, so I'm glad for that.

6/14/09 Escape from Alcatraz

Today I raced Alcatraz. I drank Emergen-C + glutamine, 4 BCAAs beforehand, and then Ultragen + glutamine + protein powder afterwards. Also drank another Recoverite + glutamine + protein powder later in the night.

:30 MVP session was all I had time for.

Another 39 min MVP session before bed. Tried to go to 45 but lower legs too numb.

I am thinking that potentially my position on bed may result in lower leg numbness. Particularly if I lie down or am more horizontal than sitting up, my lower legs seem to get more numb. This also sometimes makes me sleepy and I wonder if my lowered HR causes the numbness because less blood gets pumped. Need to experiment.

This morning got up and took Emergen-C + glutamine, 4 BCAAs, 3 Sportlegs. Went for a 2200 swim. Came back and drank Ultragen + protein powder + glutamine powder.

Then went for a 2:51 run. Took Emergen-C + glutamine, 4 BCAAs, 3 Sportlegs before run. After, I drank Ultragen + protein powder + glutamine, 4 BCAAs, 3 Sportlegs, then another concoction of Recoverite (3 scoops) + protein powder + Emergen-C.

Ice bath, shower, then 1 hour MVP session.

Rode a Bike Str+Spd workout and finished well.

Drank Ultragen + Glutamine powder + protein powder and 4 BCAAs for recovery.
